C2E2 was quite a show. I stayed extremely busy the entire time, running back and forth between my artist’s alley table and signings/panels for Voltron Year One. These are pictures taken by my friend Nate of myself and my friend, and writer of Voltron: Year One, Brandon Thomas.
I was obviously being a jackass in some of these pictures as I have a hard time taking “normal” photos. In one picture I’m working on an “Alien” piece for a sketchbook but sadly I didn’t take a good picture of it. I did a bunch of drawing over the weekend including a Superman piece, a Tarantino Comics piece, 2 Magneto head sketches, and something else I’m probably forgetting (and for good reason). I’m also positive I made an idiot of myself at my first two panels I’ve ever done.
Best part of these shows is catching up with friends and meeting fans, and getting a new burst of energy to keep illustrating. It’s always inspiring and I look forward to the next convention, whichever one it may be.
To my great shame, but more that of my man at the comic shop, I did not catch Voltron: Year One #1. Granted that He-Allura on one cover had put me off it somewhat, I nevertheless have been quite impressed by Dynamite’s current run on the characters, far more so than anything that’s come out of Voltron Force. I have my own thoughts on what the origins of Voltron and the Super Force are like, but thankfully this is the first thing in a while that’s not outrightly insulted my intelligence. I hope to soon to have a second order or printing to enjoy.
